    Keukenhof 2018

    in Gardens of the World

A couple of years back I was in the

Netherlands and decided to go and see the gardens of Keukenhof. I thought rather than join a tour for about €110 I went local, tram, train and bus return for about €10 plus entry of €13. Then I did what those who joined the tours did, wandered about the gardens.

I was more interested in the garden structure, design and mass colour than the individual flowers. There were more than tulips but there were thousands of different tulips of every colour, shape and style. Not like the pink, yellow and white here.

These gardens are dedicated to the tulip, a celebration of tulips.

The tulip were introduced to Holland by Charles de l’Écluse (1526-1605) in 1593 nearby at Leiden. Here are just a few photos to hopefully give those who have never been there a glimpse of the gardens.
